Slack
People connect their own Slack accounts.
A Slack app in your workspace, so apps can post to approved channels and match people by email.
Used by: OpenCRM for team agents that post to Slack (optional).
Connect accounts
Each person connects their own Slack account in the Gateway, once, and every app that asks uses it. Apps never see the tokens. How connecting works
The redirect URI to register, with your Gateway's address (like apps.example.com):
https://<your gateway>/connect/slack/callback- Open api.slack.com/apps and select Create New App. From a manifest is quickest: your coding agent can write one from the app's scopes.
- Pick the workspace. Under OAuth & Permissions, add the redirect URI above as a redirect URL, and the bot scopes the apps you run need.
- Under Basic Information → App Credentials, copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
Add it to your Gateway. It asks for the client ID and secret:
everyapp provider add slackOr add it in Manage workspace → Providers.
Use it in an app
capabilities: {
slack: { access: "read", scopes: ["channels.read"], why: "What the app does with it." },
},Apps ask for these scope sets:
| Set | Allows | Provider scopes |
|---|---|---|
channels.read | Channels (read-only) | channels:read, groups:read |
users.read | Members (read-only) | users:read |
users.email | Members' email addresses (read-only) | users:read.email |
messages.write | Messages (post as the app) | chat:write, chat:write.public, chat:write.customize |
channels.join | Channels (join public ones) | channels:join |
channels.manage | Channels (create, manage and invite to; open DMs) | channels:manage, groups:write, channels:write.invites, groups:write.invites, im:write |
files.write | Files (upload) | files:write |
user-channels.manage | Channels (as the installing person: read, manage, invite to) | channels:read, channels:write, groups:read, groups:write |
Check it worked: everyapp provider show slack shows the client as set. Then open the account menu → Connected accounts → Connect Slack.
