Create an app
Start from the starter app, tell your coding agent what you want, try it, and put it online.
Run these in the folder you keep your projects in.
Create it
everyapp create my-app
cd my-appYou get a simple todo list in its own git repository. Each person sees only their own todos.
The name becomes the app's address: my-app.apps.yourcompany.com. Use lowercase letters, numbers and dashes.
The app uses the published EveryApp packages from npm. If you set up from a clone of the EveryApp repository instead, run pnpm everyapp create ../my-app there: that app is linked to your clone, so it deploys with your clone's CLI.
Tell your agent what you want
Open the my-app folder in your coding agent and describe the app in a few sentences:
Turn this into a shared todo list for my household. I want separate lists
for groceries and chores, a due date on each todo, and a way to see who
added what. You don't need a login page. The Gateway handles sign-in, and the app includes notes that explain EveryApp to your agent.
Try it on your computer
pnpm devOpen http://my-app.localhost:8787. You're signed in as a dev user, and changes show up as your agent makes them. If the port is taken, the terminal prints the command to run instead. Press Ctrl+C to stop.
Already have a Gateway with AI and providers set up? Run pnpm everyapp dev --gateway https://<your gateway> instead: you sign in once in the browser, the app runs here as you, and its AI, email and provider calls go through your Gateway, so no key is copied to your computer. Owners and admins only, after pnpm everyapp workspace linked-dev on. The app's data stays on your computer.
Put it online
pnpm run deployWhen it's done, you'll see:
Live https://my-app.apps.yourcompany.com
Who can open Private to you, owners and admins · change it at https://apps.yourcompany.com/admin/appsOpen your Gateway and the app is in All apps. No Gateway yet? The deploy offers to install one first.
If it stops for something only you can do, the lines it printed say what. Troubleshooting
Apps that use AI
Ask your agent for the AI feature you want. It sets the app up to call a model through your Gateway, so the app never holds a key.
Add a model key to the Gateway once, and every app can use it:
everyapp provider add openrouterIt tells you where to get the key, then asks for it. You pay OpenRouter for what your apps use. Your coding agent can walk you through it: ask it to follow setup/openrouter.md in the everyapp skill. AI providers
Keys only one app uses
If the app needs a key of its own, like a GITHUB_TOKEN, your agent lists it in everyapp.config.ts. After you deploy, run this in the app's folder and paste the key:
everyapp configure my-appOnly that app gets the key, and later deploys keep it. Until every required key is set, the app shows Needs setup. For pnpm dev, put it in the app's .dev.vars file as GITHUB_TOKEN=....
Share it
To let others install your app, run everyapp release in its folder and attach the file to a GitHub release. They install it with:
everyapp install https://github.com/owner/repo
